Revelation of the Quran

 

1.       The Arch-angel Gabriel revealed to Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)  a verse from the Quran.

2.       The event took place in a cave called Hira, located on the mountain called Jabal an-Nour, near Mecca.

3.       The first five verses revealed are from Surat Al-`Alaq, Chapter 96.

4.       The first revelation experience of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) is mentioned in the Quran 53:4-9.

 

Chapter 53, Verse: 4-9

 

 إِنۡ هُوَ إِلَّا وَحۡىٌ۬ يُوحَىٰ (٤) عَلَّمَهُ ۥ شَدِيدُ ٱلۡقُوَىٰ (٥) ذُو مِرَّةٍ۬ فَٱسۡتَوَىٰ (٦) وَهُوَ بِٱلۡأُفُقِ ٱلۡأَعۡلَىٰ (٧) ثُمَّ دَنَا فَتَدَلَّىٰ (٨) فَكَانَ قَابَ قَوۡسَيۡنِ أَوۡ أَدۡنَىٰ (٩)

 

 Which one of mighty powers hath taught him, (5) One vigorous; and he grew clear to view (6) When he was on the uppermost horizon. (7) Then he drew nigh and came down (8) Till he was (distant) two bows' length or even nearer, (9)

 

 یہ تو وحی ہے جو اس پر آتی ہے (۴) بڑے طاقتور (جبرائیل) نے اسے سکھایا ہے (۵) جو بڑا زور آور ہے پس وہ قائم ہوا (اصلی صورت میں) (۶) اور وہ (آسمان کے) اونچے کنارے پر تھا (۷) پھر نزدیک ہوا پھر اور بھی قریب ہوا (۸) پھر فاصلہ دو کمان کے برابر تھا یا اس سے بھی کم (۹)
